THINKING OF BUYING OR SELLING?

ABOUT PORT MOODY

Port Moody is an historic city that wraps around the east end of the Burrard Inlet, East of Burnaby and approximately 18km from Downtown Vancouver.
It was founded in 1859 by Colonel Richard Moody of the Royal Engineers, the same military troop that settled New Westminster. The city served as a year-round port for British Columbia’s first capital but it boomed in 1881 when it became the western terminus for the Canadian Pacific Railway. The boom didn’t last long though as the city’s growth stalled when the rail line was extended into Vancouver in 1887.

PORT MOODY REAL ESTATE

Port Moody has a small-town feel, with a small relatively small population of under 40 thousand people (as of 2021), and is a great option for many looking for more outdoors and nature in their life. For it’s size, the city offers a wide range of houses, condos and townhouses, in all price points, and the demand for this city seems to be growing year over year. The city is no longer a secret, it has the best lakes in the city (Buntzen & Sasamat), and more and more people want to live here. Port Moody is an excellent place to live for young professionals, families and empty nesters.

PORT MOODY HOUSES

Port Moody offers a wide range of house styles, ages and price points. For luxury, Alderside Road (on the waterfront), Anmore and Belcarra have the most expensive homes where $5 Million+ sale prices have been reached. Heritage Mountain consists of many 90s built homes, with larger 3 level 3000+ sf floor plans, and are a great option for detached houses in the mid-level price points. The Ioco area (Barber Street) offers south facing views of the inlet, it’s bright and sunny, it’s surrounded by trees, and has a sense of being away from it all. If you’re looking to live closer to the city, College Park and Glenayre are great family neighbourhoods on the south side of the Inlet.

PORT MOODY TOWNHOUSES

Townhouses are found all throughout Port Moody, from Heritage Mountain, to Port Moody Centre, with Klahanie, Corbeau & George being the common developments of choice. College Park offers new and old townhouses, and have some of the more affordable options on a price per square foot basis in all of Port Moody (and the surrounding areas). There are many age and size ranges, with 3 bedrooms floor plans being the most common, and wood frame being the most common type of construction. Port Moody is loaded with young families, and communities, such as Klahanie, have excellent amenities at the Canoe Club, and are full of kids running the streets.

PORT MOODY CONDOS

Port Moody offers stunning water and mountain views, great amenities, steps to shopping and groceries, trails and parks, West Coast Express and the Skytrain, and is condo living at it’s finest. This city has options for all ages; Newport Village, developed in the late 90s and early 2000s, offers larger floor plans and great shops and restaurants at your door step. Suter Brook, built by Onni, is newer and more modern with studios and large plans, and Klahanie, built by Polygon, has a lower density, more park space, and is just across the street from the inlet and popular Rocky Point Trail.
