You have fantastic views of Stanley Park and the north shore bridges, and the lights of Downtown Vancouver at night are spectacular. You are minutes from three ski hills in the winter and the ocean for boating and sailing in the summer. It would be best to have everything on the north shore, from parks to the world-famous Capilano Suspension Bridge and the Treetop adventure walk. NORTH VANCOUVER ENTERTAINMENT & TOURISM

North Vancouver

North Vancouver sits on the north end of Burrard Inlet, giving residents easy and scenic access to the Pacific Ocean. Affectionately called the North Shore, the city is filled with plenty of fantastic dining, outdoor and waterfront activities, shopping, and entertainment. It’s no surprise that residents of North Vancouver are no strangers to the great outdoors – from boating and kayaking in the inlet to forested trails and skiing, there is plenty to love about the surrounding landscape!

Lynn Canyon Park has been a favourite spot for outdoor enthusiasts since its opening in 1912, with hiking trails, waterfalls, and plenty of spots to relax and enjoy an afternoon picnic. The park is perhaps best known as the home of the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge: a 50-meter-high rope bridge that brings travellers across a forest-lined canyon filled with waterfalls. Not only is it the perfect spot for a photo op, but it’s also a great spot for thrillseekers who don’t mind a bit of swaying back and forth as they cross! The Baden Powell Trail crosses through Lynn Canyon and feeds into other shoreline parks, like Cypress Mountain, Capilano River, Grouse Mountain, Quarry Rock, Deep Cove and more.

If one suspension bridge isn’t enough, you can head to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, which has a total of eight suspension bridges! The original Capilano Suspension Bridge was built in 1889 and sits 70 meters above the Capilano River. Although it’s a piece of Canadian history, the bridge has been rebuilt with stronger cables to stand the test of time. In fact, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is so strong that it could hold up to 96 full-grown elephants! Once you’re done, head over to Treetops Adventures: a string of seven suspension bridges through Douglas firs. The Capilano Suspension Bridge Park also features a wide range of interactive, educational activities, such as a First Nations museum, complimentary talks and walking tours, and wildlife conservation.

Local and independent businesses are thriving in North Vancouver. The Seabus terminal is not only home to the public transit ferry, but it’s also where you’ll find the Lonsdale Quay Market. This market contains more than 60 locally owned businesses selling specialty goods and services. Once you’re done browsing, get a snack at the international food market, grab a beer at Greenleaf Brewing, or let the kids expend some energy at the play area. The Lonsdale Quay Market even has a boutique hotel, where guests can enjoy waterfront views and fine dining. Keep an eye on their calendar of events, too – the market regularly hosts special events, such as an artisan farmers market, outdoor yoga, and live music.

Foodies will feel right at home in North Vancouver, with tons of up-and-coming restaurants, global cuisine, and unique dishes to choose from. During the summer months, don’t miss out on Shipyards Live – an 8-week summer festival that showcases local artisans, a splash park, beer gardens, live music, and an entire street dedicated to food trucks.

North Vancouver is also home to Caribbean Days, a two-day celebration filled with parades, dancing, live entertainment, and even a boat party. Hosted by The Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Society of BC, this festival is the largest of its kind in all of British Columbia. And the celebration doesn’t stop there – North Vancouver is also home to a beer festival, a Polish festival, and many festivals that celebrate the visual arts.
