Vancouver East – Collingwood

5027 RUPERT ST, VANCOUVER, BC V5R 2J6, CANADA

Collingwood is a large and rapidly growing neighbourhood on the east side of Vancouver running along the Burnaby border. The area is bounded by 41st Ave, Boundary Rd, 29th Ave, Nanaimo St and Kingsway. Collingwood is one of Vancouver’s earliest settled neighbourhoods, with its first settler in 1891. Multi-family housing developments in Collingwood have grown because of its close proximity to the Expo Line and its central location to main thoroughfares. Although Collingwood is fairly urbanized, there are many parks in the surrounding area where residents can enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Collingwood is an up and coming neighbourhood with ethnic diversity, recreational spaces and urbanized centres.

Residents have quick and easy access to many amenities including parks, restaurants, shopping, schools and entertainment. Adjacent to 29th Ave Station, Slocan Park houses multiple tennis courts and a large field–the perfect place to gather friends for a round of soccer, football or ultimate frisbee. Slocan Park hosts the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival every year which features music, food and a lantern parade. Just north of Slocan Park is Renfrew Ravine Park, a natural forested area that has a portion of Still Creek running through. Residents are also close to Central Park in Burnaby. It is one of the largest parks in the Greater Vancouver Area with walking trails, tennis courts, sports fields and picnic spaces.

Major shopping, eating and entertainment can be found within minutes of Collingwood. Metrotown is a short Skytrain ride away and Kingsway is home to restaurants of a plethora of ethnicities. Metrotown is one of the largest shopping centres in Canada and is great place to spend the day shopping, watching a movie and checking out one of their featured exhibits. Kingsway is a major arterial road that many commuters take to get into or out of Vancouver. Here, you can find a wide variety of delicious asian eateries, cafes and bubble tea shops, a Vancouver Public Library brach, banks, grocery stores, and more!
