Join the New West Farmers Market every Thursday from 3-7pm in Tipperary Park, next to New West City Hall. You can find fresh produce, plant based food, food trucks, artisans, prepared foods, alcohol, live music, and family friendly activities. Dogs are welcome.

Burnaby Farmers’ Market
Free – 10am-2pm at Burnaby City Hall Parking Lot 4949 Canada Way – Burnaby

The place to find locally grown conventional and organic produce and prepared foods every Saturday, from May to October.

Sunday, September 4
Polish Festival Vancouver
Free – 1pm – 8pm – The Shipyards, 125 Victory Ship Way – North Vancouver

Come have fun at Polish Festival! Celebrate with your family and friends and meet others in the community. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds are invited for an authentic European experience! Polish music, singing and folk dancing and a special program for children and youth, arts and games activities, balloon lady, face-painting and more. Folk dances performed by Iskry – Polish Folk Dance Ensemble from Winnipeg.

Lottery proceeds to support Ukrainian refugee crises. Vendors will be selling Polish T-shirts and accessories, jewelry, arts and crafts, as well as plenty of delicious traditional Polish food such as sausages, perogis and pastries.

Labour Day at Burnaby Village Museum
Free – 11am – 4:30pm – Burnaby Village Museum 6501 Deer Lake Ave

Burnaby Village Museum is open on Labour Day. Stroll through the 1920’s village and visit your favorite historical exhibits and enjoy special live entertainment.

Burnaby Flea Market
Free – 9:30am – 1:30pm – Confederation Seniors’ Centre – 4585 Albert Street – Burnaby

Clean out your cupboards or find yourself a great bargain! More than 50 tables of pre-loved items are on display to comb through.

Recovery Day BC – 10th Anniversary
Free – 12pm – 6pm – Uptown New West Neighbourhood at 6th and 6th

Canada’s Largest Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Day Festival. Recovery Day BC in New Westminster has become one of the world’s largest events celebrating recovery and raising awareness that recovery from addiction and mental health issues is possible.

Close to 200 Vendor Spaces Booked. Check out the Children’s Stage, Food Trucks, Artisans, Mental Health and Addiction Service Providers, Adventure Zone with Rock Climbing, Virtual Reality Pods, Swing Dancing, and Axe Throwing, Kids Zone with Facepainters, Clowns, Magicians, Balloon Art, 4 Music Stages and the Overdose Memorial Tree to honour those lost too soon.

Saturday, September 17th
Fire Dragon Festival
Free – $20 – 9am – 7:30pm – Vancouver’s Chinatown

Guests are invited to come view the Fire Dragon, enjoy dragon dancing workshops, and an exciting Fire Dragon dance performance.  The event will bring the Chinatown community together past and present through celebration, cultural activities and performances, culinary exploration, and the appreciation of intangible heritage.

Car Free Day
Free – 12pm – 10pm –  Carrie Cates Court in North Vancouver 

Car Free Days are presented by Translink and feature huge lineups of live entertainment, vendors and community booths, kid’s activities, and more. Best of all, the events are free to check out.

Sunday, September 18th
Terry Fox Run
Register for the Run – various locations around BC

The annual Terry Fox Run has become a fall tradition in Canada, with more than 650 communities, big and small, urban and rural, English and French, fundraising for cancer research. This year, you can register and participate on Sunday, September 18!

Paper Play: Paper Dolls From Around the World
Free – 12pm-3pm – Mackin House Museum – 1116 Burnette Avenue, Coquitlam

Learn about the wonderful world of paper dolls, create dolls from various cultures, learn about the vast array of dolls in Coquitlam Heritage’s collection and help us celebrate the launch of our new online collection database. Make and decorate paper dolls from around the world, and browse our online doll exhibit The Uncanny Valley. Join us at the museum for this free family friendly event.

Drawing with the Rain Garden
Free – 10am – 12pm – Lions Park Fieldhouse 2300 Lions Way – Port Coquitlam

Join Lions Park Artist-in-Residence, Kaitlyn Beugh, and witness the rain garden as it takes form. Sit alongside it sketching your favorite parts during these open studio sessions with the artist. Coloring pages inspired by the rain garden and blank paper will be available, along with basic art materials such as crayons, pencils, and erasers. Feel free to bring any other art material you’d like to use during the session.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is recommended that participants bring a chair or blanket to sit on for the duration of the workshop.

Start the Halloween season with a visit to the All Hallows’ Eve Craft Market Oct 1 & 2 at Sapperton Hall! You will find the upper and lower levels of the hall filled with 60 Halloween loving Vendors offering tons of spooky, witchy, gothic, geeky, nerdy, mysterious, strange and unusual wares.

The Art 4 Life Open House includes art and activities by exhibiting artists from 18 to 100 years, exploring themes in their work that would appeal to young people.

River Rock Painting

Art Gallery at Evergreen

Inspired by our current gallery exhibition, “Lyse Lemieux: so dawn goes down to day,” these free take-away Creative Kits are filled with art materials and instructions to get making at home. We’ll supply the materials so you can get creative!

New West Cultural Crawl
Free – 11am – 5pm – Various Venues

The New West Cultural Crawl is an annual arts & culture festival that celebrates and exhibits the vast creative talents across New Westminster. Artist studios and venues open their doors for two days to welcome thousands of visitors from across Metro Vancouver.

The 19th Annual New West Cultural Crawl will take place on October 15 + 16, 2022, from 11 am to 5 pm at venues across New Westminster. This family-friendly event invites audiences of young and old to explore the city at their own pace, and check out artworks by professional
and emerging artists who reside in the city.
