Simon Fraser Hills is a small neighbourhood at the base of Burnaby Mountain, between Forest Hills and Oakdale. It is comprised mostly of older townhomes and some single family homes. It is bordered by Stoney Creek to the east, Gaglardi Way to the west and Lougheed Highway to the south.
Neighbourhood amenities
Simon Fraser Hills is a forested enclave that is as close to shopping and services as it is to nature. The Lougheed Town Centre area, with its array of retailers in the mall and along North Road, is nearby.
Residents are also close to the walking trails along Stoney Creek as well as the network of hiking and biking trails in the Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area. The neighbourhood’s close proximity to Gaglardi Way means Simon Fraser University, at the top of Burnaby Mountain, is just a quick scoot away.
To the south, Burnaby Lake regional park offers trails that circumnavigate the ancient urban body of water, a nature interpretive centre at Werner Loaf Park and viewing platforms to watch migratory birds, turtles and even the occasional beaver. The west end of the park is a recreational hub with sports fields for soccer, rugby, cricket and even Aussie Rules Football, as well as tennis courts, two arenas for hockey, lacrosse and skating, an archery range and a swimming pool.
