As its name implies, Central Burnaby North is centrally located about halfway between the lively Heights commercial district on Hastings Street and the busy Metrotown area along Kingsway.
It is bounded by Lougheed Highway to the north and Canada Way to the south, from Willingdon Avenue to Douglas Road. Most of the residential area of the neighbourhood is north of Canada Way, and consists largely of single family homes along with some townhomes and condos.
Neighbourhood amenities
Central Burnaby North’s proximity to major commuter routes like Highway 1 and Lougheed Highway means Vancouver and the eastern suburbs are only minutes away. Major employers like BCIT, EA Sports, BCAA and Blue Cross are also located nearby.
While there’s only one park in Central Burnaby North, residents are close to some of the best green space in the city at Deer Lake Park and Burnaby Lake Park. Both are built around urban lakes and offer a variety of recreational and cultural opportunities.
Deer Lake Park is Burnaby’s hub for the arts, in an outdoor environment. The Shadbolt Centre is a renowned destination for artists and performers with its multitude of galleries, studios and two theatres. The Burnaby Art Gallery is located in the adjacent Ceperley House, connected by beautiful gardens of flowers and rhododendron trees. The park’s festival lawn is an acclaimed outdoor music venue against the spectacular backdrop of the lake and the gleaming Metrotown skyline.
Burnaby Lake Park is a recreational paradise. The lake itself is a competitive rowing basin, and it is surrounded by kilometres of nature trails. The park’s east end is comprised of sports fields for soccer, rugby, field hockey, field lacrosse, cricket, softball and even Aussie Rules Football. There’s also two ice arenas, an indoor pool and an archery range. Just across Kensington Avenue, the Fortius Centre for Fitness and Sports attracts amateur and professional athletes from around the world to train or overcome injury.

Transit
There is a fast bus that services routes to and from Brentwood Station and Metro Town for easy access to shopping or a major skytrain station. In addition, the Number 1 Highway is extremely accessible to this neighborhood.
Central Burnaby North real estate
Central Burnaby is comprised of houses, condos and townhomes. This area has been relatively stable in the past 5 years and has been selling around $1 million for a single detached house. Condos and townhomes are selling at around half that price of a detached house.
