W 37th Ave is Kerrisdale’s northern border which extends from Cypress and Blenheim St. The southern border is marked by SW Marine Dr, W 49th Ave and then veers off along East Blvd until it meets the corner of Cypress St and W 57th Ave creating a triangle shaped area. Kerrisdale is an affluent residential neighbourhood with high end commercial districts along W 41st. It served as one of the first established neighbourhoods in Vancouver and acted as a gateway to the canneries located along the Fraser River. Kerrisdale is home to the oldest business association in Vancouver where member’s pool money to maintain, update and upkeep the commercial areas of Kerrisdale. It is an ideal neighbourhood to live in as most amenities are within walking distance and it is characterized by a strong community feel and its own distinct “downtown” core.

Neighbourhood Amenities

Kerrisdale has two main shopping districts. One is located along W 41st, from Maple to Balsam St and the other is located along West Blvd, from W 37th to W 47th Ave. Both commercial districts are fairly large and offer residents and visitors a selection of restaurants, cafes, bars, professional services and other essential amenities. In addition, high-end clothing stores offer unique and stylish designs.

Kerrisdale features numerous parks for those who love getting outdoors and running around in big open fields. Located in the Northeast corner of the neighbourhood is a 6 lane running track. Just south of the running track is the home of Cyclone Taylor Arena which offers skating programs and lessons for people of all ages and skill. During the spring and summer months, the arena is converted into a giant playground for kids to play in. Residents can also take advantage of the fitness centre, gymnasium, auditoriums and pool located at Kerrisdale Community Centre. One of the biggest attractions in Kerrisdale are the three golf courses located just southwest of the neighbourhood. Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club is the best golf course in British Columbia and ranks in the top 20 best golf courses in Canada. Point Grey Golf and Country Club as well as McCleery Golf Course are also nearby.

SW Marine Drive, W 49th Ave and W 41st Ave serve as great east-west thoroughfares with quick and easy access to Granville and Cambie St that offer direct routes into Downtown Vancouver, Richmond or the airport. The major thoroughfares are also serviced by transit buses that connect users to the Canada Line Stations, Downtown Vancouver and UBC just to name a few.
