Fraserview is close to Downtown New Westminster and historic Sapperton but still offers the peace and quiet of a suburban neighbourhood. It is bordered by Cumberland St, 6th Ave, E. Columbia St., and McBride Blvd.

The neighbourhood offers staggering views of the Fraser River, beautiful parks, and a vibrant community full of history. In fact, Fraserview used to be home to the notorious BC Penitentiary, which housed some of Canada’s most hardened criminals. While the prison is long gone, its gatehouse and administration buildings have been preserved, repurposed, and integrated into residential developments. 

Another infamous institution, the old Woodland Psychiatric Hospital, has been redeveloped into the spectacular Victoria Hill planned community.

Neighbourhood amenities

Nearby Queen’s Park offers a wealth of recreational and leisure activities. New Westminster’s flagship park is home to two playgrounds, a petting zoo, a spray park, picnic areas, walking trails, forested areas and an off-leash dog area. There are tennis courts, sports fields, an outdoor fitness circuit, and Queen’s Park Stadium.
