Neighbourhood amenities

Deer Lake Place is smack dab in the middle of Burnaby’s cultural and recreational hub.

Deer Lake Park is where the city’s artists and performers gather at its galleries, theatres and studios. The Shadbolt Centre, named for one of Burnaby’s most renowned artists Jack Shadbolt, is Burnaby’s premier arts space. A short walk through beautiful gardens of flowers and rhododendron trees is the Burnaby Art Gallery which is housed in historic Ceperley House.

An expansive festival lawn that slopes down towards the lake is one of the most beautiful venues for outdoor concerts in the province. It hosts annual performances by the Vancouver Symphony, the Burnaby Roots and Blues Festival as well as occasional shows by touring acts.

A series of walking trails ring the lake and connect to a small beach and boat launch at the east end where canoeists and pedal boaters can embark on a lazy afternoon on the water.

Immediately east of Deer Lake Place is the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex where its numerous turf and natural grass pitches, 10 rinks, 12 indoor and outdoor tennis courts and one indoor swimming pool are always busy with recreational and competitive athletes. The complex also includes an archery range and a rowing pavilion.

Deer Lake Place is just a short drive from Burnaby’s vibrant Metrotown shopping and business district with three expansive malls, three large hotels, office towers and the main branch of the city’s public library.
