Neighbourhood
Buckingham Heights is close to Burnaby’s recreational and cultural hub.
Deer Lake Park is an urban oasis that offers boating and fishing in the water, hiking and bird watching along scenic trails that ring the lake’s protected natural shore. The northern part of the park is the city’s arts and cultural centre with galleries and studios, the renowned Shadbolt Centre as well as Burnaby Village Museum, which recreates the city as it was in the 1920s. A large festival lawn is one of Metro Vancouver’s best outdoor concert venues; it hosts annual events like the Vancouver Symphony and the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival as well as occasional touring acts.
Buckingham Heights is also midway between two of Burnaby’s most vibrant commercial centres, Edmonds and Metrotown, that each offer a huge array of shopping and services, as well as two branches of the Burnaby Public Library.
