Vancouver West – Southlands

Southlands is located south of Dunbar and encompasses the eastern half of the Musqueam reserve along the Fraser River, extending east all the way to SW Marine Dr. Southlands is a unique neighbourhood featuring beautiful homes attached to acreages. Here, there is a healthy balance between an urban and country life. Some residents live in houses built on leasehold estates.

Neighbourhood amenities

This is one of Vancouver’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, as it is hard to find acreages in the city. Most homes are beautiful mansions and luxury estates built for the very wealthy. At one point, Southlands was home to farmers and fishermen, and today, amongst the estates, are urban farmlands where many working families call home. Southlands Farm is an initiative whose goals are to grow and protect local food systems and educate the local community on farming and sustainable local living. Southland Farms has set up programs and camps to educate the general public and locals in the area. In addition, they set up farmers markets so that people have easy access to locally grown produce.

Southlands is home to Southlands Riding Club which is an equestrian sport and recreational facility. It provides camps and programs that catering to youth, including special needs children. It is a great non-profit organization that caters to the community and helps develop healthy kids using recreational horseback riding.

Southlands is home to two of Vancouver’s best and most prestigious golf courses, Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club and Point Grey Golf & Country Club. Paradise for golf lovers!

Transit

Southwest Marine Dr, Granville St and Cambie St are great corridors to get around Vancouver and is well-serviced by Translink buses to transfer users to UBC, Downtown or the Canada Line Stations.

Southlands Real Estate

Southlands features mansions and luxury houses built on acreages and as a result, condos and townhouse sales are very rare. In fact, there have only been two townhomes sold since 2010.
